The Menhir is documented in the Chinese Chronicle “To The Gates of

Feng Tu”, 1400 AD, when they stayed at Cahokia, (Feng Tu) then journeyed north to the site where they said was a monolith. They were directed by Cahokia Elders according to their stories. They were documenting the massive resource of magnetite there, an iron that they prized. The Menhir is oriented and points to Isle Royale and the Keweenaw.

That leads me to question: If they then followed the direction and discovered our pure copper, here in the Copper Country.
I also wonder who erected this 35’ tall, 400 ton monolith and when?

My hypothesis is:  The MENHIR is a fragment of the upheaval caused by the impact of the Copper impartors about 13,000 years ago.  

Any impact that could fling sizzling ice to the Carolina would have been able to rise up the hot MENHIR and let it sink down through the ice into the mud below.  The orientation to Copper Country may be a coincidence or ,maybe, a result of the forces which flung the MENHIR out of Copper Country.

I think it is better to think a Cosmic Catastrophe is a better cause of the configuration than the action of super human beings.  We have evidence of the first and not, yet, the second.

There is a wonderful dolman nearby.

"Near Copper Harbor, Michigan, USA, at the northern tip of the Keewenaw Peninsula, a large and long protrusion of rock emerges far up the hillside in deep forest. Many petroglyphs cover this rock. It sits on the ancient shoreline of Lake Duluth. One figure is a large boat rigged with a square sail.  Most viewers who trek that far into the forest proclaim it a Viking boat.

A dolmen, a large cap stone supported by three shim stones holding it aloft, is located on the Kelso River out of Sawbill Landing, Minnesota, within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA) in a national forest. Canada considers these to be lithic works created by the Neolithic cultures long before recorded history. Many others have been found on this continent and around the world, suggesting they are guideposts for ancient man.

In ancient times, water levels were higher from melting glaciers. The surface of the earth was still pressed down from the Ice Ages and had not begun rebounding with the removal of all that ice. If ancient boats did traverse the Laurentian Divide (a raised area across North America dividing the direction of water flow) between the watersheds, this spot is a likely possibility. Several times I have trekked to Magnetic Rock on the border trail (prominent on the north side atop the Laurentian Divide) between Magnetic Lake and the Gunflint Trail. It was only after the Ham Lake forest fire in 2007 that the rock 'reappeared'.

One curious thing is that the angle at the top matches the angles of the menhirs in Europe...

Interesting. I do not have a hypothesis for that.  But I do not know about the "Menhirs" in Europe.

RAN SOM may mean, "RAIN DIMIMISHS."

Ft. RANSOM is an odd name. The "RANSOM" event is not known. Names of places usually persist if the people in the surrounding region use the name repeatedly. A "RANSOM" event may not have been known to many people in the surrounding region. Let us investigate the hypothesis that the "RAM SOM"syllables were Algonquin. The syllables might have been used by the "Indians" to name the place for some reason. We can look up the Algonquin syllables in the VIKING and the RED MAN volumes. For example, in volume 5, we find:

So, "RAN" appears to be an Algonquin syllable meaning, "rain." In volume six, page 112, we find:

The evelution of "SAMAKAW"to "SOM" follows known translations of words over time: 1. Vowels are interchangeable. "A"-"O" are more interchangeable than other pair of vowels. 2. Syllables at the end of the word may be may be lost over time. "AKAW"may have been lost over time. 3. People of a different language may hear different words. An English person would have been more likely to think he heard "RANSOM" than the RANSOMakaw"spoken by an Algonquin. The meaning "Rain is crushed" is just as valid as the word "RANSOM" refering to a ransom event with no ransom story known. Ft. RANSOM region lies on the N-S continental divide and on a region where yearly rainfall swiftly "becomes low" "RANSOM" is just as likely to mean "Rain becomes low" as a Ransom event with no Ransom story. Buck wrote, "Ft. Ransom was built in 1867 to protect the railroad workers from the Sioux and was named for Civil War Major General Thomas Ransom. Ransom is another "chicken or egg" situation.  You may remember the "Chicken" as recorded by people, who knew the man.  I prefer to believe the "eggs," spoken by people of the region, who knew the words. We can disagree on how the word "Ransom" came to be applied to a fort in North Dakota.  The place is now Ft. Ransom. That is a fact we can agree on. Have a good one. Myron PS: This is the third "Chicken and egg" episode that I (Myron) know about. There is "Norman" Oklahoma, which the "history" people say was named for a railroad worker. Norman lies on a river full of Old Norse names. "Wannett" (water place) is one of them. "Borger"(Boring gear) is another. As a young man, I camped at Pointsett (Nice place). My own mother wrote that Pointsett was named for a politian, who gave a speech one day. He left town the same day. Near by lakes are "Marsh," which is an Old Norse name, Norden, ditto, and Arlington, (Arrow place town. My hypothesis is that place names exist because people used them in the original (Old Norse) language. The names persisted when people with a new language moved in. Then the new people, who did not know what the old words meant, found a person with a name, which could be used to explain why "Ransom," "Norman," or "pointsett" had the names they have.

Minnehaha county surrounds Sioux Falls, SD.  The little waterfall is named “Minnehaha.” The Sioux came to the area after the Lenape.

CHRISTMAS 2020

For unto us is born a Savior                   2020

We wish you Christmas Blessings.  We hope that you and your loved ones are well and stay well.  Despite the pandemic we are blessed to be here at Carlton Independent Living.  We have Christmas music and Christmas decorations are appearing on many ledges beside the doors. They add to the holiday atmosphere.

Life at the Carlton Senior Living Center in Concord, CA, is slowly recovering from the COVID “Stay in your rooms” time.  Instead of meals delivered to our room, we now go down to eat supper where the tables are spaced six feet apart. The service is faster.  The food seems better. We exchange greetings with our friends, even though masks are required when we leave the room.

Birdie is still on the ‘meet and greet’ team to help newcomers.  Birdie continues her frequent walks to nearby stores.  She goes early to avoid crowds. We both go to exercise classes three times a week. We still walk through the halls and up two floors to the shuffleboard table. We usually play two games in about 15 minutes. 

 Myron continues to add to the Lenape History, which now has 659 posts.

Myron did not have COVID.  But in March he did have the opportunity to lie on his back for twelve days, while the medical staff of Kaiser Hospital at Walnut Creek drained four liters of fluid from his lungs.

TaVee was a help to Birdie during Myron’s hospital and recovery period. We moved to TaVee’s on March 2O. Birdie stayed with her until June 1. After the hospital episode, Myron stayed at TaVee’s from April 4 until June 1.  Myron was weaker than he thought he was when lying on a bed. He had to practice getting out of bed and then walking with a walker.  He called the walker his go-cart. The bright spots were TaVee’s good food, her patio, and the music. Myron thought the time was pleasant, but he was still laying on his back most of every day. We are thankful for TaVee’s competent care.

TaVee has her part time jobs of letter writing for property managers and office manager for art galleries. 

Tami still flies for United.  United moved the 757 & 767 aircraft, which she was flying, out of Washington, DC, where she lived.  This move caused Tami to upgrade to the 777 aircraft.  She relocated her domicile to San Francisco and moved into an apartment across the street.  We are happy to have her visit us more often.

Teresa and Dirk remain in North Carolina.  They have the same jobs but work from home.  They have not made the annual visit to us. 

Our six grandkids Jake, Dan, Liz, Caley, Eric and Brian, are working or studying from home.  They have had to cope with the pandemic, but are healthy.

NORUMBEGA MEANS ...?

Wikipedia says, “Norumbega, or Nurembega, is a legendary settlement in northeastern North America which was featured on many early maps from the 1500s until European colonization of the region.”

Wikipedia has a MAJOR problem.  Scholars, who learned the NEW WORLD MYTH as kids, write Wikipedia.  The MYTH has hardened into a paradigm. The NEW WORLD MYTH has a major belief, “There NEVER WERE NORSE  in America.” The belief is false.

Original sources like the LOK map say that Corte Real and Columbus rode in a Norwegian crew-rowed boat in a 1472 voyage to America.

The Norwegians did not need maps.  They had been there before, probably many times. But Corte Real tried to make a map of his observations. Corte Real wrote the word for Norway on the LOK map, a 16th century map.

But look at this modern translation,

The word "Norumbega" meant "NORWAY" in the, 16th century. The two constants “mb” dropped from vocalization during the four centuries since the 17th century.

The 17th century English tried to make the name “Norumbega,” mean something other than “Norway.”  Hence the “legendary” settlement.

I have edited “Norumbega” in Wikipedia - twice,- only to have the Wikipedia “scholars” find another 16th century map with the word “Norumbega” written on it.

So, the scholars said, “It  (really) was a “legendary settlement” and NOT the name of NORWAY in America. .

I understand;  to people with the NEW WORLD MYTH in their heads, “Norumbega” cannot be the Portuguese word for “Norway” in the 16th century.  Or can it?

A cadre of Wikipedia scholars, who learned the NEW WORLD MYTH as kids, or Corte Real, a Portuguese mapmaker, who wrote “Norumbega” on the LOK map to show the world that the Norwegians had a “Norway” in America?

Your mission, if you accept it, is to convince the Wikipedia scholars, who have the NEW WORLD MYTH in their heads, that “Norumbega” was the 16th century Portuguese name for “NORWAY.”

Clearly, original documents are more valid sources than subsequent interpretations by "scholars" with an agenda.

APALACHAN SHAWEE TRIBE

The Appalachian Shawnee Tribe (AST) is an non-Federal, group of people of Shawnee (and other natives and White) descent bound together to preserve their (Shawnee) heritage, history and language and to enjoy each others' company.

The AST has several web sites: the home site above, a Facebook group, a sales web site, and the original AST (private) web site.

The AST has recently acquired the exclusive rights to the LENAPE history via Quick Response codes.

The LENAPE were people from Greenland, who migrated to and through the Shawnee, who were already living in America.   The LENAPE migrated for 150 years to get to New Jersey via the Dakotas and Missouri.  The LENAPE historians composed a History of 184 self-verifying stanzas.

The history begins at Chapter 3 of the Walam Olum.  “Walam Olum” is a mispronunciation if “Maalan Arun,” which means, “Engraved Years.”

The “engraving” was sketches of pictographic cues, which helped the reciting historian use the correct words, so that the audience could hear the verification of the stanzas.  Sketches of one hundred and eighty four pictographs remain.  They have been saved in the Sacred Sites web site since early in the Internet era.

The Quick Response codes point to an 18-week semester of LENAPE history, which have been deciphered back to the original language.  The stanzas have been deciphered to recover over 90% of the original words.  Thus the wording shown with the Quick Reponse codes is a better deciphering of the original sounds.

Reider T. Sherwin collected nearly all the Shawnee and LENAPE words with their meaning.  So the meaning of the original sounds is recorded in the eight volumes of Sherwin’s book, the VIKING and the RED MAN.

The AST now has the Quick Response codes to the first semester of the LENAPE history, which starts about the year 1,000 and covers episodes in nealy four centuries, until AD 1363.

The AST has the QR codes available in three forms:

1.  Unique (single) episodes with the original Pictograph

     and the translation of the deciphered words.

2.   A one page layout with QRs paired with the original

      Pictograph, but NO text.  The one page can is better

       to carry in notebooks or put in files, but the viewer 

       should be familiar witlh the episodes the Pictographs

       represent.

3.  A Pamphlet that pairs the QR code to the Pictographs and 

      the translation of the deciphered sounds.  

The 18 episodes are an 18 week course for a semester, one episode per week.  Each episode has questions, which are based on the Pictographs, an ancient artifact, and the meaning of  the original words.  A post, which gives the answers, is presented after the stanzas, artifact, and word posts have been studied.

While the AST is preparing the sales presentation of the QR codes, the best way to get your copy of the QRs is to contact Chief Don Greene via the messenger feature of the Facebook AST group.  Ask him for:

3. the pamphlet.

Frode, When we were writing the Frozen Trail to Merica, we did not even think that there had been three and a half centuries of Norse people in North America.

TOM, when we researched the Kensington Rune Stone, we did not even think that 4,000 Norse people had been migrating from Greenland to New York via the Dakotas.

I think it is time to stop researching.  It is time to encourage the professors to TEACH the LENAPE (a.k.a. Norse) history.

Yes, I know that there should be hard proof.

Yes I taught Ph D students.  I know hard proof is required.  I demanded hard proof.  I also demanded hard proof of Craig and I.

That is why:

the first Semester of the LENAPE HISTORY of 18 assignments (One EPISODE per WEEK) is now on the seventh proof test. 

[More Hard proof gets added each time.  This time the COME AGAIN Michigan plate and the HURON STONE have appeared.]

That is why there are LINKS to more than 18 artifacts throughout the 18 EPISODES.   Those artifacts are hard proof.

The Stanzas for the eighteen EPISODES are preserved as the WALAM OLUM in the Sacred Sites web site.  [The stanzas have been there for twenty years.  They include Genesis.  I can use any Bible to translate the first 40 stanzas.  How much more proof do you demand?]

Craig Judge and I (two men on two coasts) deciphered those stanzas using the VIKING and the RED MAN algonquins-Old Norse comparisons.

The VIKING and the RED MAN comparisons are online.  That is solid proof.

Craig and I learned that the Stanzas are self-verifying.  We searched the VIKING and the RED MAN until the Old Norse sounds were at least 90% of the expected self-verification.  That was hard to do, but it provided proof that we had the right words—and meaning.

There are 18 assignments to look up Old Norse words like Mississippi and Missouri.  Those are written on all maps of North America.  How much more proof must you demand?

The HARD PROOF tells me that Professors in the Social Science Academia believe what they teach.  They are NOT Scientists! They teach what they were taught.  

They do NOT consider the possibility that the English did not teach the first teachers the truth.  

The English suppressed history by omitting it. What they teach does NOT explain the evidence. [Why should a river through North America have a NORSE name?]

I am insulted that you think my investigation was  to “wish and believe that things happened so and so.”

I need you to guide the effort to convince Social Science people to demand the hard proof.

North America has TWO histories:

the Lenape history with episodes from AD 1,000 to 1585 and the English history of the New World, which is a continuous history from AD 1585 to the present.

Professors teach the English history of the New World. We, all, carry  the English history in our heads as a mental model of colonial North America.

Rune stones, artifacts, and “native” words are mysteries to our mental model.  One by one professors labeled those items “not valid” because  the New World mental model does not explain them. The Lenape history does, but we have not been taught the Lenape history. So we cannot make mental connections to the hard evidence we have found.

Professors should teach both histories: The Lenape history and the English history of the  New World.
